Founded in 2009 by David Burkart, CFA, in San Francisco, Coloma Capital Futures®, LLC, offers futures-based strategies on a separate account basis.  

While the initial offering was centered on the commodities markets (specifically the energy, grains, livestock and softs sectors), the firm has expanded its capacities to include trading volatility (VIX) and other asset classes.  While registered as a Commodities Trading Advisor (CTA), Coloma eschews technical techniques and instead focuses on fundamental relative-value trading over the short- and medium-term.

Inspired by his ancestors that dared cross the United States by wagon train in the mid-1800's, David named his firm after the heart of Gold Country, the city of Coloma.  Situated close to the state capital, Coloma was the site of Sutter's Mill, where gold was discovered on January 24th, 1848.  Today, the ghost town still attracts visitors who pan for gold!
