Green Trading Capital (“GTC”) is a NYC based fund with a focus on environmental commodities, specifically, air pollution emissions. The fund will invest in the California Carbon markets to generate returns uncorrelated from those of traditional assets. The strategy involves purchasing carbon credits from quarterly auctions, from the bilateral market, and through the intercontinental exchange. The price-floor of the auctions at which credits are sold increases by 5% + CPI annually, and may trade above the floor in auctions as well as in secondary markets. This action minimizes downside risk because the value of assets established at the price-floor creates a synthetic floor price for the secondary market. This strategy aims to generate net absolute returns of 15-20%.
