A hedge fund launched last summer by Astellon Capital Partners co-founder Christian Vogel-Claussen called Alanda Capital Management has hired an investor relations professional from recently-shuttered Getback Baytree Advisors, HFM understands.
London-based Desmond Lawlor worked in an investor relations role at now-defunct credit manager Getback Baytree for over a year, according to his LinkedIn page.
Before joining the firm in March last year, he spent a brief spell in a similar role at corporate credit and special situations investor Alva Capital.
From 2013 to 2016, Lawlor worked at alternatives giant Blackstone in the firm’s Dublin office, where he held an analyst role.
He started his financial career in 2011, working as an analyst for Dublin-based wealth advisor Key Capital, where he worked for just under two years.
Getback Baytree was founded in early 2017 as a partnership between Polish loan servicer Getback and London-based asset manager Baytree Advisors.
The firm shuttered earlier this year before launching its fund when Getback was involved in a major accounting fraud in Poland.
HFM revealed last year that Vogel-Claussen was to launch the Alanda Opportunities Fund in the third quarter, running a global mandate with a European focus on TMT, consumer/retail, business services, industrials and real estate.
He left $1bn event-driven manager Astellon in December 2015 after five years, which he founded with Bernd Ondruch in 2011 and served as co-CIO and CEO. He worked at activist hedge fund Laxey Partners before founding Astellon.
Lawlor is currently inactive on the FCA register.
Alanda Capital did not respond for comment.
