Yizhou Ye, a former portfolio manager at Hong Kong-headquartered Atlantis Investment Management, is understood to be preparing to launch two long/short equity funds this year.
Elite Capital, Ye’s hedge fund, recently received its asset management license from the Hong Kong regulator.
Ye co-managed a long/short China fund in Atlantis more than two years ago, before running a similar strategy on the Opim platform between 2016 and 2017.
Joining him at the new firm is COO Selina Sze, who previously also worked at Atlantis and before that at CQS in Hong Kong.
Elite is understood to be targeting either a June or July launch for a high conviction long/short equity portfolio with a China theme, and that a second strategy focused on broader opportunities across markets and employing much lower leverage than the first fund could potentially launch in the third quarter.
