Investment consultant Callan has hired Pete Keliuotis as head of alternatives consulting, it has announced.
Keliuotis is based in Callan’s Summit, New Jersey office and reports to the firm’s president, James Callahan.
He joined from rival consultant Cliffwater, where he was a senior managing director and member of the portfolio advisory team, helping institutional clients build alternative investment portfolios.
Prior to that, Keliuotis was a managing director and CEO of Strategic Investment Solutions, where he led the general and private markets consulting teams.
He has also held roles at Mercer Investment Consulting, Hotchkis and Wiley and the Northern Trust.
“For the past several years, we have been growing and strengthening our alternatives capabilities,” Callahan said.
“We’re excited to have Pete come lead this now-robust platform. He’s someone we have known and respected for a long time and believe his leadership in research and private markets/alternatives program development will benefit our clients.”
Callan’s hedge fund and private equity consulting teams will report to Keliuotis in the newly created role, supported by 25-member global investment research group and a 10-member performance reporting and data analysis group.
“Our strategic decision to grow our direct private markets capabilities has been in response to the growing needs of our client base,” said director of research Butch Cliff.
Keliuotis added: “Callan has an excellent reputation as a leader in research and education and a focus on putting client needs first.
“Callan is committed to developing its alternatives consulting capabilities, which is an important part of serving the increasingly diverse needs of their client base.”
Founded in 1973, Callan advises on more than $2trn in assets. The consultant is headquartered in San Francisco and has offices in five other locations.
