CTAs have no opinions. They have models. And that’s why the market watches closely to see if they’re buying shares again. In recent weeks the CTA abbreviation has appeared in market commentary unusually often. First banks wrote that these funds are selling shares, then that they might return to buying. It sounds a bit like there’s a mysterious group on Wall Street with a big sell and buy button.
